Officer Michael Spilman Arrested for Sexual Assault

Allegations of sexual assault have prompted the resignation and arrest of Murray police officer Michael Spilman.

A complaint led West Valley City police to book Spilman for aggravated sexual assault and forcible sexual abuse.

Spilman, a 10-year veteran of Murray's police force, is sitting in the Davis County Jail for his own protection. Police fear possible reprisals from Salt Lake County Jail inmates recently arrested by Spilman.

Police say they're releasing very little information about the case to protect the victim.

So because a guy is a police officer, he deserves to be crucified? Last time I checked, police officers are our neighbors, friends, etc., those that take bullets for us. And yet you've managed to convict this guy based on one of the smallest news articles I've ever seen. Whatever happened to "innocent until proven guilty?"

Officers are our neighbors and friends, etc...but they took on the job of arresting the 'bad guy'...they themselves should not be the bad guy. They MUST hold themselves to a higher level.

Why did he resign then? Did he feel guilty? And everyone knows the police don't arrest you for something this serious unless they have some sort of proof.
Bet he does time.
