A POLICE officer who admitted to drinking at least 18 beers before going on duty to carry out a breath test has not been disciplined.
Instead, Senior-Constable Adam Reedy has been promoted – despite telling a court last month about a wild night in Cunnamulla that ended with him knocked unconscious after trying to arrest a woman.
Reedy was at the Warrego Hotel about 10pm on May 14, 2005, when asked by colleagues to carry out a breath test.
After the test he drank two rums at the Club Hotel and about 12.45am declared himself on duty to arrest local woman Corrinne Mitchell, who he says spat on him, sparking a fight that ended in Reedy being flown to Toowoomba Hospital for treatment.
Three people pleaded guilty to charges over the incident but five others fought the charges, which were dropped last month when a judge ruled Reedy's evidence unreliable.
A police spokesman said the matter was being reviewed but "at this time the Queensland Police Service has not received any complaint about the matter".
Reedy, who is now a plainclothes detective in Cairns, admitted in the District Court in Charleville to drinking about two mid-strength beers per hour between 10am and 6pm while off-duty at a golf function.
From there, the then-constable went to a barbecue where he continued to consume alcohol, before moving on to the Warrego Hotel about 10pm.
In court, defence barrister Phil Hardcastle asked Reedy: "Now how many drinks did you have at the Warrego before you went back on duty to do this breath test?"
"Mate, it was just one drink all up," Reedy replied.
Mr Hardcastle says: "Then you drop into the Club Hotel. You have two rum and Cokes and you're called away by Senior Constable Lahey?"
"Yep," Reedy replies.
An attempt by Constable Lahey to take Reedy home failed – he returned instead to the Club Hotel where he was later assaulted by a group of people after he put himself back on duty and tried to arrest Ms Mitchell.
In court, Crown witnesses backed the defendants' claim that Reedy had directed racial comments at Aborigines in a bar and then dragged Ms Mitchell by her hair, pulling clumps out.
Reedy denied the claims.
A statement from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions states the charge of grievous bodily harm against Ms Mitchell and four others was thrown out because "the judge concluded that it would be unsafe to rely on the complainant's memory to establish guilt beyond doubt".
"The reasons for this were that the complainant had consumed a large amount of alcohol before the injuries were inflicted . . . and he had been knocked unconscious in the attack."
A police spokesman admitted a driver had been charged over the earlier breath test performed by Reedy.
Queensland Council for Civil Liberties vice-president Terry O'Gorman said the public had the right to have their breath tests carried out by officers who were not affected by alcohol.
QPS policy states officers who have a blood alcohol content above .02 face disciplinary action.
Mr O'Gorman called for a Crime and Misconduct Commission inquiry into the police handling of the matter.
A police spokesman said Police Commissioner Bob Atkinson and Reedy were unavailable for comment.

Officer charged with drowning 50 kittens

VICTORVILLE — Prosecutors filed six counts on Monday against an Adelanto Animal Control supervisor who allegedly drowned roughly 50 kittens over a four-month period, officials said.
Kevin Murphy, 36, faces six misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals, said Supervising Deputy District Attorney Jim Hill, of the Victorville District Attorney’s office.
Hill said the charges stem from Murphy allegedly drowning the kittens between July and October — some 50 animals in all. If convicted, Murphy could face six years in county jail for the drownings.
“The maximum penalty for each charge is one year in county jail or a $20,000 fine or both,” said Hill, who added that Murphy will be arraigned on May 19.
In 22 years as a prosecutor, Hill said he had never seen a case like this involving an animal control employee.
Murphy was not arrested for the animal cruelty and will be notified by mail of when to appear in court, said Hill.

Sgt. Chris Jones Charged with Murder

An off-duty Shelby County sheriff's sergeant has been charged with second-degree murder in a shooting early Friday at an East Memphis lounge.
Sgt. Chris M. Jones, 39, the son of former Memphis City Council member E.C. Jones, was taken into custody at the scene.
Memphis police responded to the call at the Wind Jammer restaurant, 786 E. Brookhaven, at 12:50 a.m., where they found that two people had been shot.
Wind Jammer's disc jockey, Donald Munsey, 42, was taken to the Regional Medical Center at Memphis, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
A 22-year-old man remained in critical condition at The Med Friday evening. Police did not identify the second shooting victim.
Jones, who was off duty at the time of the shooting, has also been charged with attempted second-degree murder.
Police said the shootings stemmed from an argument in the parking lot between Jones and the 22-year-old man. After the pair moved into the restaurant, Munsey attempted to resolve the argument when a physical fight broke out. Jones shot both victims during the altercation, according to police investigators.
Reached Friday morning by phone, E.C. Jones said he hadn't been able to talk with his son. "I was advised he'd been involved in an altercation ... why it happened, I don't know."
"The Sheriff's Office is conducting an administrative investigation about the circumstances that led to Sgt. Jones' arrest. This has been a tragic event for the victims and their families," Shelby County Sheriff Mark H. Luttrell said in a statement.
It's against the law for an off-duty officer to carry a gun into a bar, said Sheriff's Office spokesman Steve Shular, although deputies are allowed to carry their weapons elsewhere while off-duty.
Jones, a member of the West Tennessee Drug Task Force, has been employed by the sheriff's department since 1991. He's been involved in a number of traffic stops that led to major drug busts, including one in 2007 that led to the seizure of more than a million dollars worth of marijuana.
Jones' most recent performance review, dated June 2007, indicated that he "exceeds department expectations," although he received a written reprimand on April 18 for boxing-in a car during a traffic stop without the proper training.
He was counseled to "improve supervisory effectiveness when anticipating and meeting unexpected situations."
Earlier in his career, Jones took part in an arrest involving four deputies that led to a $3.5 million settlement against the county. Deputies hog-tied Bertram Brunson after a 1991 arrest on a DUI charge, cutting off oxygen to his brain and causing him to lapse into a coma.
The deputies were suspended briefly but returned to active duty later that year. In 1992, a Shelby County grand jury declined to indict them in the incident.
The Wind Jammer is on a formerly residential street just off Poplar in the shadow of Clark Tower. A sign on on the lounge informs customers that it's open from "4 p.m. till."

Buddy Visser entered plea
A former Tulsa police officer pleaded guilty Thursday to stealing guns and ammunition from the department and selling them on the Internet.
Buddy Visser, 47, entered the plea to the charges of possession and sale of stolen firearms and mail fraud, which were filed by the U.S. Attorney's Office March 5.
He said his criminal conduct involved between eight and 24 firearms.
U.S. District Judge Terence Kern will sentence Visser -- who is free on bond -- on June 10. Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Raley estimated that federal guidelines will suggest a prison sentence from two years to three years, five months.
Raley told the court that Visser "deprived the taxpayers and the city of Tulsa of the honest services he had taken an oath to maintain" when he committed the crimes during the first 11 months of 2007.
Visser resigned from the force March 6 after a 17-year career.
Chief Ron Palmer said that same day that "the resignation was accepted with no regret."
During Thursday's plea hearing before U.S. Magistrate Paul Cleary, Visser did not try to justify his crimes, but he told the court that he has been treated for manic- depression and post-traumatic stress disorder and is taking medication.
Visser admitted in his plea agreement that from January 2007 through late November he stole weapons and ammunition from the Tulsa Police Department's firing range, where he was an instructor.
Visser said he asked for prices so low that purchasers typically would buy quickly.
Visser had been suspended in December after the Tulsa Police Department and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives began investigating theft allegations.
His plea agreement indicates that Visser will be expected to pay restitution to the city for any unrecovered firearms and to the purchasers of guns that are located.
Raley said he does not an ticipate that anyone else will be charged with stealing guns from the Police Department and selling them. However, he would not comment about whether any further inquiries related to the Visser investigation are under way.
Palmer has said the department is now considering adding cameras and new auditing measures to ensure the security of weapons at the range.

Miami officer charged with buying steroids

Miami Officer John I. Fedak, a U.S. Marine reservist who recently completed a tour in Iraq, has been arrested on charges of buying steroids through the mail, police said.
He is the third Miami officer arrested this week.
On Monday, Officer Yatha LeGrand was arrested by Bay Harbor Islands officers, who say she allegedly slapped her live-in girlfriend.
Earlier that day, Officer Rondal Brown surrendered to his own department, accused of allowing his police bloodhound, Dynasty, to starve to death.
''It's always disappointing when you have to investigate and arrest your own,'' said Miami Detective Delrish Moss, a spokesman.
Fedak, 26, was cuffed late Wednesday, charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Miami internal affairs investigators ''received information'' that Fedak, six-foot-two, 175 pounds, had been buying steroids for his own use.
Detectives teamed up with Miami-Dade police, the FBI and U.S. postal inspectors to send a phony delivery -- a package containing four vials of steroids -- to Fedak's home.
Fedak, knowing the package contained steroids, signed for the delivery and was arrested, according to his arrest report.
Fedak posted $5,000 bail Thursday and was released from Miami-Dade County Jail. Hired in 2004, he served on the department's SWAT Team.
Fedak did not return a phone call from The Miami Herald.
LeGrand, 38, a patrolwoman hired in 1990, was arrested Monday in Bay Harbor Islands, where she has lived with her girlfriend for five years.
According to police, she slapped her girlfriend and smashed the woman's cellphone to prevent her from calling police. LeGrand was charged with simple battery.
''I feel I was wrongly accused,'' she told WPLG-ABC 10 after her release.
The most high-profile arrest was that of Brown, 48, who surrendered after a four-month investigation by internal affairs and prosecutors.
Investigators say he allowed Dynasty the dog, who specialized in finding missing persons, to starve to death. The 4-year-old dog lost 30 pounds in 11 months.
Brown is charged with animal cruelty and an offense against a police dog. His attorney, William Matthewman, says Brown would never intentionally hurt his beloved bloodhound.

"ROID RAGE" is responsible for hundreds of deaths every year. Murders, suicides (Chris Benoit), road rage killings, and overdoses are just some of the examples of the damage these drugs cause.
A police officer must be beyond any reproach. This idiot, like many other cops and firemen, believe that they are above the law and can break the law and use illegal drugs.Cops who commit crimes must go to jail and submit to prison justice. Since these steroid midgets no longer posess the manly attributes due to their illegal usage, they are the perfect prison bitches with their virgin poop chutes.

Woman from Kansas Stuck to the toilet seat
Now this is one messed up mind disorder.
Here is the most bizarre story that I’ve heard for the day. Apparently a 35 year old woman from Ness City, Kansas, sat on her boyfriends toilet for two years, and become stuck to the seat as her skin literally grew around the seat.
While she sat there in the bathroom, her boyfriend brought her food and water. He begged for her to come out, but he apparently never thought to call for help until Feb. 27. When Sheriff Bryan Whipple tried to remove her, she stated that nothing was wrong, and she didn’t want to leave. They finally persuaded her to go the hospital, after they pried the toilet seat off the commode with a pry bar. They were unable to remove the seat from her body and had to take it with her to the hospital.
The Sheriff said that the house was cluttered but not in a big mess, but still there was an overpowering smell obviously coming from the bathroom. She had open sores on her butt, which made the toilet seat stick to her backside. They said it appeared likely that she sat on the toilet seat continually for at least a month without bathing or changing her clothes.
Her boyfriend (McFarren) continued to have conversations with her all while in the bathroom. McFarren works at an antique store and said he has been taking care of the woman for the 16 years that they have lived together. He insisted that he tried to coax her out of the bathroom everyday, but she always would reply, ‘Maybe tomorrow.’
Doctors at the Wichita hospital told the boyfriend an infection in her legs has damaged her nerves and may leave her in a wheelchair. At this time she is said to be in fair condition.
The Sheriff is recommending charges be brought against the boyfriend for mistreatment of a dependent adult.
Now here is the problem with this...Why do they need to arrest this guy? Obviously this guy has as many problems as she does. They both need to have some counseling, not the stress of possible jail time.

Governor Eliot Spitzer...Jackass Award of the Day
The Jackass award of the day goes to...
Governor Eliot Spitzer
As much as I would like to ignore this subject, it’s like in my face constantly here recently. I’m trying to avoid writing about it because it not like it’s anything new. It has happened many times in the past with others of authority.
This 48 years old father of three daughters, resigned Wednesday after getting caught having sex with a prostitute. He spent $85,000 dollars on call girls, and used a Washington hotel the night before Valentine’s Day.
Damn that must be some really good pussy.
Goes to show where his true love is...between his fucking pants...ha!!
The case started when banks noticed frequent cash transfers from several accounts and filed suspicious activity reports with the Internal Revenue Service, a law enforcement official said. He was identified as “Client 9” in court papers.
"Over the course of my public life, I've insisted, I think correctly, that people regardless of their position or power take responsibility for their conduct. I can and will ask no less of myself," Spitzer said at a Manhattan news conference with his wife, Silda, at his side.
Too bad he didn’t think about this before he broke the law.
But this is what really pisses me off: Spitzer, a first-term Democrat, built his political reputation on rooting out government corruption, and made a name for himself as attorney general as crusader against shady practices and overly generous compensation. He also cracked down on prostitution.
Here’s another motherfucker who is in charge and thinks he is above and beyond the law. He can crack down on laws, but not have to follow them himself. What a fucking Jackass!!
It is a federal crime to protect a prostitution ring when you're an elected official. Spitzer was the attorney general before becoming governor, and busted all the OTHER prostitution rings in NY but not this one.
That’s because he wanted the pussy. He was thinking with what’s between his legs!! Like most men do. He knew he was breaking the law in many ways and still chose to do it. The public put their trust in him when he was elected and he willingly broke that trust. He should get no break and a message should be sent to other elected officials that they cannot break our trust. We should have no sympathy or make excuses that "they all do it." If his sex drive was unmanageable, he knew it when he ran for office, and in the language of legal complaints, he "knew or should have known" it would be a problem for him while in office.
I can’t believe that his wife has no self respect. How can she even stand beside the piece of crap while he was giving his pathetic little " I’m sorry I’m a male ho" speech. I would have been packing his stuff or better yet waiting until I was on live TV and slapped him as America watched.
Others of authority who aren’t any better than this jackass..
Sen. Larry Craig, R-Idaho, pleaded guilty to a charge of disorderly conduct in a sting that aimed to curb public sexual acts in a Minneapolis men's airport bathroom in August 2008. Craig was formally reprimanded by the Senate Ethics Committee and said he will not run for re-election in 2008.
The phone number of Sen. David Vitter, R-La., turned up on a list of phone records in the case against alleged brothel owner Deborah Jeane Palfrey, aka "the D.C. Madam." Vitter admitted responsibility and apologized privately to colleagues, but has faced no formal sanctions for his actions.
Rep. Mark Foley, R-Fla., resigned last fall after sexually explicit messages to underage male pages surfaced.
James McGreevey resigned his post as the governor of New Jersey in November 2004 after admitting to an affair with a male employee.
The House impeached President Bill Clinton in 1998 for lying under oath and obstructing justice in a probe into his extramarital affair with intern Monica Lewinsky.
Sen. Bob Packwood, R-Ore., resigned his seat in 1995 after being accused of sexual misconduct by 29 women, including former aide Paige Wagers, right.
In 1989, Rep. Donald Lukens, R-Ohio, was convicted on a misdemeanor charge for paying a 16-year-old girl to have sex with him in 1988.
Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., in 1989 admitted to dating a male escort but said he did not know the man was running a prostitution service from Frank's apartment.
Democrat Gary Hart was caught in an extramarital affair with model Donna Rice in 1988. The revelation effectively ended the former Colorado senator's presidential bid.
In 1983 the House censured Rep. Gerry Studds, D-Mass., above, and Rep. Daniel Crane, R-Ill., for separate cases of sexual activity with underage pages.
In 1974, Rep. Wilbur Mills, D-Ark., was pulled over in his car and his girlfriend, a stripper with the stage name Fanne Fox, jumped out and dived into the Tidal Basin. Source: AP

Officer Gary Allen Steele Held for Torture of Girlfriend
CANTON TOWNSHIP MI.
March 9 2008
An off-duty Police officer accused of striking his girlfriend with a baseball bat and firing three rounds from his service revolver has been arraigned on seven charges, including torture and assault with intent to murder.
Gary Allen Steele, 42, is charged with hitting his 37-year-old girlfriend in the legs with a baseball bat during an argument Tuesday, then firing the shots.
Police were called to the couple’s home in the area of Pinehurst and Glengarry in Canton Township at about 12:30 p.m., and Steele surrendered without resistance.
The torture and attempted murder charges carry possible sentences of life in prison.
Steele was also charged Thursday with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, a 10-year felony; two counts of felonious assault and discharging a weapon in a building, four-year felonies; and using a firearm during a felony, which carries a mandatory two-year prison sentence on conviction.

Officer Richard McKeon Arrested for Murder
Buffalo NY March 10 2008
Police say that they are working a homicide case today and that they do have a suspect and have made an arrest.
It seems that the suspect in the murder is Richard McKeon, a cop for Buffalo State college Police.
Sheriff’s officials say that McKeon killed Maureen Migliore and dumped her body in Orleans County. Deputies are not saying where the actual murder took place or much of anything else right now.
Migliore’s body was found early Friday morning on Maple Street in the town of Barre but authorities wouldn’t say who found the body.
Police say she lived with McKeon in West Valley, New York which is located in Cattaraugus county.
Tonight McKeon is in the Orleans County jail without bail.

Former Boston police officer sentenced to 18 years in drug case
A federal judge has sentenced a former Boston police officer to 18 years in prison for protecting a cocaine shipment for FBI agents posing as drug dealers.
Nelson Carrasquillo was jailed Monday, nearly three months after the first of two colleagues was sentenced to a 13-year prison term for conspiring to protect what they believed was 100 kilograms of cocaine.
The three policemen were arrested in 2006 after they went to Miami to collect $36,000 from people they thought were drug dealers.
They had been hired to escort a truck they believed was carrying cocaine.
All three pleaded guilty.
U.S. Attorney Michael Sullivan says the 36-year-old Carrasquillo provided counter-surveillance services, monitored Boston Police radio communication and helped guide a drug shipment.

Cops warned to give more traffic tickets
Ocean Township, New Jersey file complaint against departmental demands that they achieve numeric traffic ticket goals.
Ocean Township, New Jersey police officers pressured by supervisors to achieve a specific traffic ticket quotas filed a grievance last week against their own department. With the support of their local police union, Patrolmen Les Laffan and Doug Willms suggested that negative performance reports placed in their personnel files may run afoul of a state law prohibiting numeric ticket quotas. The reports specified the exact number of tickets all officers must write or face disciplinary action including the loss of opportunities to earn overtime pay.
"Your motor vehicle enforcement must improve by April 1st to a rate that would have you meet the standard of ten summons(es) a month or your participation in voluntary duties with this department will be suspended and departmental charges will be considered," the reports stated.
The Police Chief Antonio V. Amodio Jr. defended the practice to the the Asbury Park Press newspaper and maintained his department has no quotas.
"Everything from parking violations on up, these officers were only writing an average of 3 and a half summonses per month, 40-some summonses per year, which we felt was completely unacceptable," Amodio told the Press. "The standard -- and I specify standard; it's not a quota -- the standard currently being used in the department is 120 summonses per year."
Ocean Township officials have been concerned about a seven percent drop in revenue from traffic tickets last year. In 2006, it raised $744,303 from citations but only $687,063 last year. The focus on increasing the number of traffic tickets has not resulted in any corresponding decrease in the number of accidents over the past seven years.
"When they start to mandate the high number of production to offset other revenue... that raises serious questions about which roads are toll roads and which are not," New Jersey State Policemen's Benevolent Association spokesman Jim Ryan told the Press.

Kudos to these officers, they need to cease all these needless stops and focus more on violent crimes. Those in charge need to stop relying on money from traffic stops and instead seek revenue from other sources.

TPD Officer Buddy Visser Sold Stolen Weapons
Once again there is a local officer who is more of a thug than the people he has arrested. Police officer Buddy Visser of the Tulsa Police Department for 17 years is under investigation by the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
He faces federal firearms charges after being accused of selling stolen weapons and ammunition from the TPD training range. Currently Chief Palmer has suspended Officer Visser indefinitely, without pay.
This jackass and his wife were accused of excessive force during an OFF-Duty traffic stop, back in 2000. But as always they believe the officer just because he’s an officer, and all charges were dropped against them. This officer lied to his own police department, so he more than likely lied back then. No officer or person should be allowed to point their weapon at another citizen because a child threw something out of a car at them. Sounds like this officer should have been tested to see if he was using steroids.
Chief Palmer said that they also violated policies regarding the use of force and were ordered to pay $150,000 in punitive damages. But a year later the Vissers were reinstated to their assignments after an arbitrator reversed their terminations.
There is all kinds of bad cops out there, they just haven't been caught yet, or they keep getting away with wrong doing just because they have a badge. Someone needs to police the police if they are not going to police themselves. I hope this latest charge puts him away for double the time someone else could have gotten for the same crime. Then maybe some of these bad officers would think twice before committing a crime...do double the time.

Bad Cops are Everywhere
All citizens should be able to tell the difference between the good guys and the bad.
I don’t know about you, but sometimes I have a really hard time distinguishing between the good guys and who and the bad guys are. Some police will openly admit to wrong doing in books that they have had published. Mark Fuhrman talked about racism being very real in his department, and even bragged about torturing, beating and framing suspects. Cops across the entire United States have murdered people, pull armed robberies, raped young girls, sold drugs, stolen drug money, accepted bribes and falsified evidence against criminal defendants, all while in a uniform. They say that there is only a handful of cops that go bad, but still people continue to be weary of all law enforcement.
The reported number of bad cops is on the rise. In Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, State Trooper Richard S. Keener was charged with sexual assault and rape. Two NYPD sergeants and a detective were arrested Friday on drug-related corruption charges, federal and local authorities said. Two New York City police detectives, now retired, have been charged with participating in or attempting to commit eleven murders. At least five of those crimes, and a host of others, allegedly occurred during their tenure as police officers. A few years ago a police officer from NYC was arrested for sexually brutalizing a Haitian with a toilet plunger while the man was being held in custody. A two-time Mexico City policeman of the year, was arrested on suspicion of extorting money from illegal car-watchers. A veteran Los Angeles Police Department officer was arrested for assaulting a handcuffed 16-year-old in a police holding room. Three Boston police officers were arrested on federal charges of criminal activities such as dealing in stolen goods, stealing people’s identities, and stealing store gift cards. This list goes on and on.
Everyday across the county something can be found on TV or online, about an officer going bad. Yet we as citizens are told by law enforcement that there is only a few cops that have gone bad. But history states otherwise, there is continual corruption, racism, and abuse of power in every rank and has continued unabated since the 1840’s.
There are some states like Oklahoma, who are among the most arrest-happy departments in the country. Instead of sending a drunk home they insist on locking them down. They should really try to overlook certain minor violations and try to seek to keep the streets calm without resorting to locking everyone down. They need to be told and fully understand that the cops are not engaged in a war.
Real reform is possible only when that value system changes and cops come to realize that they must police themselves. A bad cop will only abstain from misconduct when he/she looks at the cop next to them and believes that their partner will not hesitate to turn he/she in for misconduct. They need to offer some type of incentive to get these officers to break the ‘wall of silence’ and report a bad cop. They must understand that this ‘wall of silence’ is what is allowing bad cops to flourish. Good cops should not be punished because they try to expose a bad cop. This will show to the public that they can trust the police to police themselves.

Trooper Richard Keener Arrested for Rape & Sexual Assault of Minor
HARRISBURG A Pennsylvania State Trooper, who was stationed at the State Police Lamar Barracks in Clinton County, has been charged with rape and sexual assault.
Attorney General Tom Corbett identified the defendant as Richard S. Keener, 39, of Marble Lane, Bellefonte, Centre County. Corbett said that the Attorney General's investigation was launched based on a conflict of interest referral by the Clinton County District Attorney's Office.
According to the criminal complaint, Keener met the victim and her friend at a Lock Haven tavern on May 16, 2006. Keener allegedly consumed a significant amount of alcohol and asked the victim about seeing "naked girls," which she responded "no, I'm not doing that.
"The charges state that around 1:30 a.m. on May 17, 2006, Keener accompanied the victim and her friend back to her apartment after leaving the tavern. Keener allegedly followed the victim into her bedroom, shut the door, forcibly grabbed her by the neck and threw her onto the bed.
According to the criminal complaint, the victim attempted to kick Keener to make him stop, but was unable to overpower him. Keener allegedly squeezed her throat each time she tried to scream and forcibly removed her jeans and underwear while holding her down on the bed.
Corbett said that Keener allegedly bit the victim multiple times on her neck, breast, lower abdomen, inner thigh and on both shoulders.According to the criminal complaint, the victim kicked her legs and shook her head back and forth negatively, but Keener continued to bite her and allegedly proceeded to expose himself without removing his pants and forcibly had vaginal intercourse with her.
Corbett explained that Keener was about eight inches taller and 130 pounds heavier than the victim, making it difficult to counter his attack.Corbett said that Keener left to use the bathroom and the victim ran into the living room and immediately told her friend what had just happened.
Keener allegedly returned and stayed in the living room for a brief time before leaving the apartment around 3:00 a.m.The charges state that the victim became distraught and panicked after Keener left and was taken to a local hospital to be treated.
Photographs taken during a sexual assault examination showed evident bite marks on her body.Keener is charged with two counts of indecent assault and one count each of rape and sexual assault. He was preliminarily arraigned before Centre County Magisterial District Judge Thomas Jordan and released on $25,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing will be scheduled at a later date. Corbett thanked the Lock Haven City Police Department for their assistance with the case.

No traces of steroids in four Sand Springs police officers

Drug tests at an independent lab have found no traces of steroids in four Sand Springs police officers, police said Thursday. Police administrators released the results of the tests to the Leader.
Blood and urine samples were tested for four officers who were under suspicion of using steroids. All test results from a St. Francis Hospital testing lab found no traces of anabolic steroids. There will be no discipline associated with the use of steroids as a result of this investigation, police administrators said.Sand Springs Police Chief Daniel Bradley said the testing came about as a result of a rumor that another officer brought to his attention. Police conducted further investigation into the matter, Bradley said. As a result, four officers were ordered to take the drug tests. The officers were escorted directly to the laboratory from Bradley's office, he said. All four went "cooperatively," Bradley said. One officer was placed on non-disciplinary paid suspension until results were returned, and the other three were allowed to continue their duties.
Bradley said the one officer was placed on suspension because of the sensitive drug-related nature of his work. The other three could be directly supervised more easily. There had been no behavioral complaints on any of the officers, Bradley said, which was another reason they were allowed to stay on duty while testing was carried out. Results from the lab tests came in on Monday, said Assistant Police Chief Mike Carter.
Traces of steroids would have remained in the system for 36 months, Carter said.Bradley said the experience was trying and emotional, and it "tested the integrity" of the department. "This wasn't easy for those who got accused," he said."I'm very proud of our officers," Bradley said. He said all the officers were cooperative with the tests, and the local Fraternal Order of Police lodge was cooperative."Our guys stepped up and said 'let's get this taken care of,'" Carter said.Bradley said he is confident there is not a steroid problem in the department. But as a result of the exderience, drug testing policies at the department will change, Bradley said. Random drug testing of officers will take place yearly. Currently, it is done under suspicion, Bradley said. A segment of officers will be tested yearly for steroids, he added. It is cost prohibitive to test all officers yearly, Bradley said. This round of testing cost $550 per officer.
More of the story...
The test results are in. And, they're negative. But, that's a positive for the Sand Springs Police Department, which has been under the umbrella of suspicion for nearly two weeks after an investigation into alleged steroid use by its officers. A month-long investigation resulted in four officers being subjected to drug testing to confirm or disprove the rumors. Today, Sand Springs Police Chief Daniel Bradley says "all of those test results have returned with no presence of steroids." Bradley told NewsChannel 8 earlier this month it was important for the citizens to know their officers are not only upholding the law, but abiding by it as well. "If you leave a rumor untested, it will challenge the integrity of an entity, much less a police department which is challenged with that, to uphold the integrity because we are the civil servants to serve the public," Bradley said. Bradley says he feels confident the department does not have an issue of current steroid use and that it won't be a problem in the future. "In the past, steroids have not been tested for," Bradley said. "We will now include a steroid test for some of our officers each year."
*******************
I'm glad that they were found not to be using steroids, but still I have to wonder and question, did they use something to beat the test? Everyone with any time of type of intelligents knows how to beat a drug test. Hopefully they didn't. And I'm glad to see that they are now going to be regularly testing for steroids.

Woman Beat By Cop In Shreveport While In Custody
A Shreveport police officer has been fired after an incident in which a female prisoner taken into custody on suspicion of DWI wound up lying on a floor at the police station in a pool of blood.
Much of what happened was recorded on a videotape -- but there is a gap of undetermined length. During that time, the woman wound up injured. She said she was beaten up; the officer said she fell.
This typical jackass cop knew what he was doing when he turned off the camera. He had full intentions of hurting that woman. I hope he receives double the time for this crime. When cops get busted for doing things like this, I believe they should recieve more time. Maybe that would stop some of the asshats from doing this kind of things.

Sand Springs Officers Using Steroids
There is an internal investigation regarding steroid use among some police officers at the Sand Springs Police Department.
Channel 2 sat down with Chief Daniel Bradley today who says he had no choice but to look into what he calls a "rumor" he could not ignore. One officer has been suspended with pay, but Bradley says this is a standard procedure and does not mean he is using.
The Sand Springs Police Department has had it's share of responding to emergencies. Now, its responding to an incident of its own.
"We are right in the heart of this investigation," Said Chief Bradley.
Bradley says an officer tipped him off to possible anabolic steroid use among officers employed with the department.
"You have got to run rumors down. Rumors left unchecked, or untested will harm an entity, especially a police department," Bradley Said.
So the investigation began..."The next step was to see if we could find any suspicion. I am not going to use the word truth, just suspicion, and we found some," Said Bradley.
He won't say how many, but will say "some" officers were brought in for testing. While he waits for the results, he touts a solid track record of no grievances filed in 13 years.
"That in and of itself has got to play a big part in the lack of grievances over the years," Said Captain John Mars.He says an open door policy is the best policy.
"When officers have issues that they need to go see the chief about, they have no trouble knocking on his door and going and sitting down with him and discussing things," Said Mars.
No word yet on what will happen to the officers if test results come back positive, but chief Bradley says steroids without a prescription are illegal...and he says he doesn't want to disturb public trust.
"We all share in maintaining integrity in this department and maintaining integrity is not easy," Bradley said.
Chief Bradley says all officers are subject to random drug testing. They are each tested when hired, but steroids is not a drug on the list.
********************************
I think I heard on the news that one officer has been fired, but I couldn't find the story anywhere.
The way some officers act like they are all jacked up on something, and they don't test for steroid use? WTF??? Cops think everyone else should be arrested and checked for drug use, why shouldn't they be subjected to the same?
I've been around a few officers that were more than likely on steroids, but no one ever says anything because they are the law. I have to pat the officer on the back that turned one of his own in...that's a bold thing to do. There needs to be more cops like you around.

Florida Police Dump Quadriplegic Man From His Wheelchair
In Hillsborough County, Florida, police were caught, by their own surveillance cameras, dumping a quadriplegic man from his wheelchair and onto the ground. Apparently they were trying to determine whether or not he actually needed the chair.
Orient Road Jail surveillance footage from Jan. 29 shows veteran deputy Charlette Marshall-Jones, 44, dumping Brian Sterner out of his wheelchair and searching him on the floor after he was brought in on a warrant after a traffic violation.
Sterner, 32, said when he was taken into a booking room and told to stand up, Jones grew agitated when he told her that he could not.
"She was irked that I wasn't complying to what she was telling me to do," he told The Tampa Tribune. "It didn't register with her that she was asking me to do something I can't do."
....As for Sterner, he was arrested at his Riverview home and taken to the jail Jan. 29 on a charge of fleeing and attempting to elude a police officer, according to records. He posted $2,000 bond and was released Feb 3.
A warrant for Sterner's arrest was issued after an Oct. 25 incident, in which Tampa police stopped him in Ybor City. He was stopped while driving a Mini Cooper that had been fitted with hand pedals and was cited for blocking an intersection.
"My client was stopped that night and was given a traffic citation, so how could he be fleeing and eluding?" Sterner's lawyer John Trevena said. "We're very skeptical about the basis for the charge itself."

The police fuck with people all the time everywhere. This is not unusual. They especially tend to fuck with people they know can't hire a lawyer. This just happened to backfire.I hope this guy sues the hell of out them and wins...But the said part is they will all gang up in their own little gang and say it wasn't their fault, it was the guy who was handicapped.
I hope these ass hats all get fired...especially the guy who laughed about it.
This is sad, and cops wonder why people are afraid of the them. I've heard of children being tasered so many time that I'm sick of it. They said that tasering would only be used in the most dangerous situation. It is used when ever they want to.

Bad Cops
Another Video of cops being wrong. Poor woman. But what people don't know is that this kind of thing happens all the time. Some police think they are above the law, and can do anything they want. It happened to me once. I hope like hell this woman is able to sue the shit of them...and wins!!
Woman Shot, Police Laugh about it
A crowd of Miami storm troopers shot an unarmed woman — twice. Then they joked and laughed about it. They also referred to innocent citizens as “scurrying cockroaches”.
An innocent Ohio woman was non-sexually gang raped by a group of cops and left naked for hours in her cell (AKA “strip searched”).
Honest, good police deserve everyones respect for doing a difficult job. But there is a dangerous trend occurring in this country that only seems to be getting worse. More and more limits are being placed on our civil and Constitutional rights while our police forces are simultaneously becoming more militarized.
Pointless and often brutal police state tactics include the tasing of our fellow citizens at the drop of a hat, which have sometimes resulted in the death of the victims — er, I mean “suspects”. This is nothing less than an instant death penalty of sorts, but without formal charges or a trial. Sadly, these incidents may be only the beginning if this trend continues. If it can happen to these people, it can happen to any of us.

The Price of Weed
Several people have been asking me what is the average price for weed, so I thought I would break it down for the people who want to know.
Let’s start off with a DIME bag...$10.00
It will weigh approximately 2 or 3 grams, and will make 2 or 3 joints...depending on the size you make the joint.
Next up a 20 bag...cost $20.00
It will weigh approximately 5 to 6 grams, and will make 5 to 7 joints.
You can also buy a quarter bag...cost $25.00
Weighs approximately 6 to 7 grams, and makes 6 to 8 joints.
Next size normally sold is a half ounce...cost anywhere from $25...to $60...all depends on the quality of the weed to the price you will have to pay.
Weighs 14 grams...and makes around 14 to 20 joints.
For an ounce the cost runs somewhere between $50 to as high as $120...again it all depends on who you are getting it from and the quality of the weed.
Weighs 28 grams...and makes approximately 30 joints...depending on size rolled.
Next is the QP (Quarter Pound) which is 4 ounces and cost from $200 to $300.
Then we have the Pound (16 ounces) ...which will cost any where from $700 to over a $1000 dollars if the stuff is really good.
Hope this information helps...and happy smoking.

'LESS THAN LETHAL' | Maker says they're safe, but a county study finds they can cause heart rhythm problems -- even death
January 31, 2008
BY FRANK MAIN AND FRAN SPIELMAN Staff Reporters/fmain@suntimes.com fspielman@suntimes.com
Tasers could soon become standard equipment for Chicago Police beat cops as a "less than lethal" alternative to guns, but a Cook County study has found the electric-shock weapons can trigger heart rhythm problems -- and even death.
The city is seeking bids for 2,500 tasers, far beyond the 350 now in use by the department. The department also is considering putting cameras on Tasers to record how the weapon was used.
Tasers are not cheap. Some departments have spent as much as $1,000 per weapon.
The pistol-like weapons expel two darts connected to 35-foot-long wires. The barbs deliver an immobilizing 50,000-volt shock.
"We view them as a less-than-lethal option," police spokeswoman Monique Bond said of the department's Tasers, which were discharged 181 times in 2006.
But Dr. Andrew Dennis, a Stroger Hospital trauma surgeon and part-time Des Plaines police officer, warned that Tasers can kill.
He was part of a team in the Cook County trauma unit that studied pigs over the last two years. In one test, 11 pigs were hit with 40-second electrical bursts. After a 10-second delay, they were zapped again for 40 seconds. The bursts caused "significant rhythm problems," and two pigs died of ventricular fibrillation, Dennis said. Other tests showed the barbs' location can affect the heart's rhythm, he said.
"I am not anti-Taser," he said. "However, I think the device does have the potential for lethality."
Dennis said officers often are trained "that it cannot hurt anyone, and that's not true."
"I think the potential for harm is small, but it does exist. In no way, shape or form do I think Tasers should come off the market, but education should be modified so officers are trained for the potential risk," he said
Officers should have access to automated external defibrillators in case a suspect goes into cardiac arrest because of a Taser, Dennis said.
A Taser International spokesman said the firm questions the way the study was conducted and pointed to other studies on humans that did not find a link between Tasers and heart problems. Dennis, in turn, questioned the independence and methods of those studies. In 2005, the Cook County medical examiner's office ruled that Ronald Hasse, 54, died following the use of a Taser. A Chicago Police sergeant used the device to subdue Hasse, who was unruly and high on methamphetamine, officials said.
Electrocution was the primary cause of death, and drugs were a contributing factor, the autopsy found.
Taser International, which counts former Chicago Police Supt. Terry Hillard as a consultant, disputed the autopsy.
The Chicago Police Department suspended the distribution of more Tasers after Hasse's death, but the ban was lifted after the department deemed them safe.

How in the hell can they say tasers are safe???
Cops are killing people just because they are too fucking lazy to get off their donut eating asses and chase someone who is trying to run or resist.
Come on motherfuckers...you(police) are in shape...at least most of you are now days... you shouldn't have that much of a problem taking down someone who is drunk, old, or out of shape.
I think they should ban the tasers along with guns...do away with them and go back to fighting with sticks...no body dies that way.
There has to be a better way...what about using a more mild form of the taser? Less volts???
It's just boys wanting more toys.
Here is what a police officer on another board had to say...."Holy crap, 40 seconds, x2??? Damn skippy a couple of them died. It's the difference between a couple of well placed strikes to subdue someone, and beating them half to death. Morons!"
Okay so you tell me that in the heat of an adrenaline rush this cop is going to be able to hit someone in the right place???? Oh come on you morons...you can't hit a subject in the leg with a gun, so how are you going to make sure you hit them with a taser in the RIGHT place? Not going to happen. Plus tell the truth...most cops go to work everyday hoping they get a chance to taser or even shoot someone...Police live for the moment.

Trooper Jason Wayne Henry Arrested for Domestic Abuse
Anytime an officer of the law is arrested for domestic violence, per the lautenberg act, he should be charged by the State's Attorney's with no involvement from the police union. He committed a crime and was also drunk. No excuses!
Oklahoma State Highway Patrol trooper's Jason Wayne Henry has been arrested in Guthrie for domestic abuse. Henry was arrested early New Year's Day following an altercation with his girlfriend at the home of the woman's ex-husband.
Henry is also charged in Logan County District Court with obstructing an officer and public intoxication.
He was put on administrative leave with pay Thursday after being named in a misdemeanor domestic abuse charge.
Henry, 32, was arrested early New Year's Day following an altercation with his live-in girlfriend, E. Dixon, according to court records.
Henry, who has been a state trooper since 1999, is free from jail on his own recognizance. He appeared Wednesday in Logan County District Court in Guthrie on the criminal counts, and for a protective order application filed by Dixon. An emergency protective order was granted against Henry.
His next court appearance on the criminal counts and protective order is scheduled Jan. 11.

Sgt James Kuehnlein Accused of Threatening to Invent Charges
ST. GEORGE, Mo.
A suburban St. Louis police sergeant has been put on unpaid suspension, accused of threatening to invent charges against a driver who caught the exchange on videotape.
The driver, Brett Darrow, 20, recorded Friday’s exchange with Sgt. James Kuehnlein with a dashboard videocamera he installed after past run-ins with police. He posted the video online Saturday.
“I wanted everybody to see that this kind of stuff does happen,” Darrow told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch in Tuesday’s edition. “I thought if I just go to the chief or whatever, it would just get swept under the rug.”
In the video, Kuehnlein approaches Darrow, who was sitting in a parked car at about 2 a.m. in a commuter lot. Kuehnlein asks for identification.
When Darrow asks whether he did anything wrong, the officer orders him out of the car and begins shouting.
“You want to try me? You want to try me tonight? You think you have a bad night? I will ruin your night. Do you want to try me tonight, young boy?”
Darrow says no.
“Do you want to go to jail for some (expletive) reason I come up with?” the police officer says. Later, Darrow says, “I don’t want any problems, officer.”
After about 10 minutes, Darrow is allowed to go.
Chief criticizes officer's actions on tape
The recording, posted on YouTube.com, brought more than 300 protest calls to St. George Police Chief Scott Uhrig.
“I was very displeased when I saw the actions on the video,” Uhrig said. “My officers are not trained and taught to act like that.”
A listed number could not be found for Kuehnlein for comment.
Uhrig said Kuehnlein stopped to talk to Darrow because police have received reports of thefts from cars in the area. But Uhrig said the officer’s actions and tone were inappropriate.
“Someone either violated the law or they didn’t. You don’t say, I’ll lock you up and then come up with why afterward,” Uhrig said.

Care to be tasered?
The following is stories from police officers who were tasered during training. As part of their training they usually receive a 5 second hit, and these are a few of the results. Most police officers are shape when they are subjected to tasering, what does this do to someone who not in the kind of shape most law enforcement are in, when the are being arrested for whatever reason?
Stcop: I am trying to locate any officer(s) who may have sustained any immediate or "long term" injuries/damage from their receiving shock from a taser during training. All responses will be kept confidential. Thanks.
8er55: I was "Tazed" on May 25th for our formal Tazer training. I sustained injury to my 5th Toracic vertabra.
Tased: My husband was tased. He was on his stomach with his arms crossed across his chest. Two people were holding him down, one on each shoulder. He jerked up after being tased and dislocated his shoulder. He recently dislocated it again by just jumping into a pool. He has to see an orthopedic surgeon and hopefully he will tell us that if not for the 1st dislocation, the 2nd wouldn't have happened.
Ietrich: I was tased on June 22nd. I pulled two muscles around my rotator cuff. If that wasnt enough, I ruptured two discs between my C5 and C6 vertabra. Surgery pending. This was with the X-26 Taser and with spotters, I never hit the ground.
8er55: bdietrich- email me at r8er55@bresnan.net. I have tried yours but Yahoo says you don't have an account.
N/A: I have a friend that is a law enforcement officer that recently received severe injury to his right shoulder after being exposed to the taser gun during a certification class. The injury resulted in his shoulder dislocating, fractured humerous, and had to sustain major reconstruction surgery. I have more detailed information please reply to my e-mail and I will give you information to contact this officer. Your information will also be extremely helpful to his ongoing situation.
Marq:I have information of a Law Enforcement Officer that was recently injured while being exposed to the taser gun. He was standing up and had two other officers spotting him on each side of his arms. The officer never hit the ground during the exposure to the X26 taser. This information has also been posted previously by another friend prior to this response. We are very concearned for all and any other officers safety in taser training. Please respond ASAP to this message if you have any information, as I have more information also to share. Thank You!
Tom: I am an attorney and represent a former deputy sherrif that sustained a spinal fracture as a direct result of taking a hit from the Tazer during training in July of 2002. We have filed a lawsuit against Taser that has been in litigation for over a year. I would like to speak to anyone who has sustained an injury during training as a direct result from a Taser hit. Please call at 602-230-1188 or email me at tom@wilmerlaw.com You can also call my co-counsel, John Dillingham at 602-468-1811 or email him at jldillingham@qwest.net. Thanks.
Ruf: Hello,I am a police officer in a similar situation. I will be contacting some of you via email. If anyone wants to get ahold of me click on the email icon above my post. Thanks
8er55: It's official I have two broken vertebra in my thoracic area from "riding the lightnin".
Ranglin: My name is Robert Anglen, I am a reporter with the Arizona Republic in Phoenix. For months, I have been researching Tasers and have written stories linking the stun guns to several deaths. Recently, officers have contacted me about injuries sustained during Taser training exercises. I am trying to determine if these are isolated incidents or a developing trend. Feel free to call me at 602-444-8694 or reach me by email at robert.anglen@arizonarepublic.com Thanks for your help.
TaserInj: I have been a police officer for 4 ½ years and I am 34 years old. I received an injury at Taser Training. On 08-17-04, I was attending Taser Training and I was connected to the Taser X26. The first probe was connected to the rear of my right shoulder and the second probe was connected to the rear of my left hip. I was exposed to the Taser for 5 seconds. I felt pain throughout my body but mainly between my shoulder blades. After the exposure, I still felt pain between my shoulder blades. On 08-18-04, I went to an orthopedic doctor and I was diagnosed with a compression fracture at the 4th thoracic vertebrae. A bone scan showed that the compression fracture was new. I also had a MRI and CT scan, which also showed a compression fracture. Due to the compression fracture, I still have an aching pain between my shoulder blades. When I attempt to twist my mid back or take a deep breath, I feel a sharp pain between my shoulder blades. Because of the pain, I have not worked since August. I also had a DEXA scan which showed that I have osteopenia. Osteopenia refers to bone mineral density (a measurement of the level of minerals in the bones, which indicates how dense and strong they are) that is lower than normal but not low enough to be classified as osteoporosis. Some people who have osteopenia may not have bone loss; they may just naturally have a lower bone density. Most people with osteopenia will not develop osteoporosis. However, sometimes osteopenia indicates progressive bone loss that could lead to osteoporosis. After several months of dealing with worker’s compensation, tests, and doctors, I will be having surgery on my back. The doctor will be conducting a kyphoplasty surgery and injecting a bone substitute. Please send me information on your injury and treatment. jkerlin@cinci.rr.com
Stcop: Sorry I haven't gotten back to some of you. From the looks of it, my suspicions were correct. There have been a lot of injuries to law enforcement officers that even our departments aren't aware of. Otherwise, I don't think they would still require "mandatory" shocks. For those to whom I have not spoken with, I went to the training class on May 8,2004. On May 31st, I awoke with severe bruising on my arms and legs. My doctors thought I was suffering from an autoimmune disease (ITP) which is caused when the spleen attacks your blood platelets as foreign objects. I immediately suspected the taser shock since the probe was placed in my waistband near my spleen. I still have the burn scar. After numerous tests and three bone marrow biopsies, I was subsequently diagnosis with a bone marrow disorder "aplastic anemia" which occurs when the bone marrow stops making the correct amount of blood cells. There are no known causes, however, most of your bone marrow is produced in the hip/pelvis which is obviously where the probe was placed on me. I am currently scheduled for a bone marrow transplant in January. I have not yet sought a doctor's opinion as to whether a 50,000 volt shock could cause or at least aggravate my condition. I strongly feel it had something to do with it. Be that as it may, I have found that most officers I've been in contact with through this forum, including myself, feel the taser is a great tool and have seen it used successfully. Unfortunately for some, like myself, we relied on our instructor's assurances that the experience was "safe" and now suffer the consequence of not being able to make an informed decision. If I had known officers were suffering some of the injuries posted here I would not have agreed. My goal was to change the mandatory testing requirement at my department absent any further safety testing. While my department still considers the taser "safe" I was successful in getting them to change to a voluntary testing policy. I encourage everyone here to do the same.Several of you have asked if I was considering legal action. That is a possiblity, but in my case, would be a difficult case to prove. Some of you should probably be in contact with an attorney. I have spoken with attorney Tom Wilmer who has posted a message here on this forum. He is quite knowledgeable on the subject and I would encourage all to make contact with him.If I can be of any further assistance, don't hesitate to contact me. Good luck to all.Thanksstpsocopconjan@charter.net
Puck: I was Tased for 5 second ride on 11-10-04. I continue to have back and chest pain that limits movement and activity.Initially I just discounted everything as sore muscles from the Taser and then as it worsened I self diagnosed myself as having Pleurisy. When I went to see the doctor I again skimmed over the Taser and it's effects and had the doctor convinced that I must have Pleurisy. He put me on anti-inflammatories and scheduled a CT scan. The scan came back normal and the meds don't really alleviate the aches and pains. I'm scheduled to see the doctor for followup visit this week and have printed out much of these comments for him to review. Beginning to believe that I am one of the unfortunate few to suffer a more serious injury from the Taser. Will post more as I learn it. It is comforting to hear others with the same complaints as I....was beginning to think I was just imagining all this.
Sam807: I too was injured by the Taser. My 7th Thoracic vertabrae was crushed during the training program. I have since been forced to retire from the only job I ever loved. I want to give the following advice to anyone else who is injured by the taser. get medical attention immediately, including x-rays. if a fracture shows up, get a bone scan and a bone density test (Dexa scan). the bone scan will determine if the injury is fresh. the dexa scan will determine if you have osteoporosis or osteopenia. Then, contact a good attorney. Make sure you document everything. Collect all mdecial documents, get second opinions from other doctors and anytime you get any type of scan (X-ray, bone density, Dexa scan, MRI, CT, etc) ask for copies. if you haven't been tased yet and still plan on receiving the training, please, for your own sake, see your doctor first and get a dexa scan to rule out osteoporosis/osteopenia. I wish I had but I was told the Taser can't hurt me. Taser says it is safe and continues to do so, but I am living proof that it can cripple someone who has osteoporosis. I was 44 when it happened.
Pnut51: Update: I have received results from an MRI and it shows compression fractures at T4 (20%) and T5 (10%) of thoracic vertebra. Doctor says the discs appear intact and that these fractures should heal within a few more months.I still have some back and chest pain but it has gotten much better over time.I continue to work and am considering my options.Am particularly concerned about long term health issues as a result of these fractures.Would appreciate comments from others with similar injuries and prognosis.
Jmills: I was tazed during training in 04/2004, the full five seconds. Nine days later, I was having emergency surgery for a ruptured colon. I ended up with a temporary colostomy and was septic from the rupture in my abdomen. I then had a second surgery in 06/2004 to reverse the colostomy. I was off work for four months and exhausted my sick time. Filing a suit against Tazer is definately in my near future.
Michael: I sustained an injury in January of 05 while working as a reserve officer. I was fresh out of the academy and had only been working for roughly 5 months.I received a serious back injury while taking the 5 second ride from a Taser during training. I was sent to a workers comp doctor and they found nothing. I was sent home with some pain pills and told that I probably just had sore muscles and possibly asthma since I had trouble breathing from intense pain in my ribs.It was the most severe and intolerable pain in the center of my back which left me with very limited mobility. It was even worse at night I spent my nights sleeping sitting up and had trouble breathing due to sharp rib pain. I was too stubborn to seek a second opinion. Finally my wife drug me to an emergency room were I learned that my T5 vertibrae was fractured possibly from my back muscles tightening up so much from the taser hit! I was referred to a specialist but never went because workers comp wanted me to see their doctors. I was told by a workers comp orthopedic surgeon that I was too young to have back surgery and that my back would be healed by December 05 at the latest. I assumed the doctor knew what he was talking about and I waited it out to see if I would heal. The pain diminished to an extent but never completely went away. It has since worsened, I still have the back pain and now I am having pain in my legs and feet accompanied by numbness in my feet and hands. I called government claims back up I was sent back to the workers comp dcotor a few months ago. I was told that based on my symptoms it seemed I had nerve damage from a back injury but they cold not prove that it was from the only back injury I ever had as a result of a taser! It must have been another injury! Based upon the good doctors judgement. So I was released from care. I am still in physical pain and feel that my career as an officer was taken from me and my life has been greatly altered with no way of getting back what I have lost. I am also fearful of going back physical hobbies such as weight lifting and wakeboarding in fear that it could aggravate my condition.I am currently working for a local car dealership , were I have been for the past three years. My boss knows I am in constant pain and has been very supportive through all of this. However I am fearful that my condition will worsen to the point that I may not be able to work as efficiently as needed. I already think that I will have a hard time trying to start a career else were because I would be a liability.
Beachcop: Im a PO for a so cal city. I was recently tased during training for the full 5 sec ride. I experienced pain immediately in between my shoulder blades near the upper middle part of my back. I was told by the staff that it was normal and it would go away in a couple of days. A week later the pain had not lessened and I filed IOD paperwork at my station. I have had two x-rays done now and both had different results. The first doctor said "I have a severe muscle strain". The second doctor said, "There is compression to the superior plate of the T5 most likely due to Osteopenia, however there is widening of the superior mediastinum that needs further investigation. A CT scan was suggested. I am waiting for the CT and I requested a DEXA scan for bone density. I have never injured myself, I am 30 years old and I have lifted weights and worked out for the last 11 years of my life 5-6 days a week. I played volleyball in highscool/college and take care of myself. I have not missed work yet, they put my on light/mod duty but I am going to still work a black/white. I have missed the gym the last week trying to let my back rest. Any suggestions? I dont know how I would have osteopenia because I eat well, take vitamins everyday, I dont have a under/over weight problem, and I exercise a lot. Are they giving me the run around?
Listen to this smart ass.
Opelwasp: An idea: if you have a heart condition, don't commit a crime that would warrent a "shock". that should clear that up, eh?other than shocking, what do you propose? just shooting the perp and hope you dont kill them?I don't care what it takes, or who I take down. I'M GOING HOME TONIGHT!!
What did you do before you had a fucking taser??…you used you goddamn muscles! If you were in shape like you should be you then you would be able to take the bad guy down using your smarts, and strength.
I was sent home with some pain pills and told that I probably just had sore muscles and possibly asthma since I had trouble breathing from intense pain in my ribs.It was the most severe and intolerable pain in the center of my back which left me with very limited mobility.
