Officer Chou Lor Charged with Punching Girlfriend

MILWAUKEE

A Milwaukee police officer faces charges after investigators said he punched his girlfriend.

Chou Lor, 22, is charged with battery and endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon.

Both are misdemeanors.

Lor's girlfriend told officers he got mad at her while they were driving back from his mother's house on Sunday.

She said he pulled over, punched her in the face and then put a gun to her face and threatened her.

A Milwaukee Police Department spokeswoman said Lor has been suspended with pay.

He is a three-year member of the force.

It's hard to make any fair assumptions about this situation from a one-sided story. Even though I haven't heard his side of the story, all roads lead to a bad end. Unfortunate that every time it's a Hmong person, it makes the news. However, it's even more unfortunate that it has to be domestic abuse from a person who holds the power and responsibility to preserve and protect. I think cops, because they have sworn an oath to protect, should get harsher punishments when they break the laws they are supposed to uphold.
