Rookie Officer Jeffrey Fowler Arrested for Public Intoxication

A 28-year-old rookie Dallas police officer was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor public intoxication Sunday night in Oak Lawn.

At 11 p.m., Jeffrey Fowler was off duty and riding in a vehicle that was involved in a crash near Lemmon and Cole avenues, Dallas police Sgt. Gil Cerda said. No injuries were reported. Records show that Sunday was the officer’s birthday, but it’s unclear where he had been prior to the crash.

Fowler was taken to the Dallas city marshal’s detention facility at 1600 Chestnut St. He was released at 7:30 a.m. Monday on the class C misdemeanor charge, city marshals said.

Cerda said that Fowler had not been put on administrative leave over the incident. He is, however, on restricted duty, officials said.

Fowler is assigned to northwest patrol. He was hired in January 2007.

I believe the passenger is at Baylor University Medical Center now in ICU. Her family is there day and night. My prayers go to her and her friends and family.

Why is that the only information regarding this accident? Seems the officer's involvement would make this pretty newsworthy and media outlets would be more interested.

The passenger is a lovely young woman who was planning her wedding. She is in a deep coma with severe brain injuries. Please keep her in your prayers.

If this "lovely young woman" who was engaged and planning her wedding, what was she doing riding in a car with another man who had been drinking? Nevermind the drinking, what was she doing with the other man? Unless she is marrying the officer, then she has no business being with him. If she was cheating on her fiance, then this is what she deserves.

The lovely young lady's name is Takiyah Brown and she was in the backseat with her fiance, who suffered a broken neck. Keep your idiotic speculation to yourself.
