TPD Officer Buddy Visser Sold Stolen Weapons

Once again there is a local officer who is more of a thug than the people he has arrested. Police officer Buddy Visser of the Tulsa Police Department for 17 years is under investigation by the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
He faces federal firearms charges after being accused of selling stolen weapons and ammunition from the TPD training range. Currently Chief Palmer has suspended Officer Visser indefinitely, without pay.

This jackass and his wife were accused of excessive force during an OFF-Duty traffic stop, back in 2000. But as always they believe the officer just because he’s an officer, and all charges were dropped against them. This officer lied to his own police department, so he more than likely lied back then. No officer or person should be allowed to point their weapon at another citizen because a child threw something out of a car at them. Sounds like this officer should have been tested to see if he was using steroids.

Chief Palmer said that they also violated policies regarding the use of force and were ordered to pay $150,000 in punitive damages. But a year later the Vissers were reinstated to their assignments after an arbitrator reversed their terminations.

There is all kinds of bad cops out there, they just haven't been caught yet, or they keep getting away with wrong doing just because they have a badge. Someone needs to police the police if they are not going to police themselves. I hope this latest charge puts him away for double the time someone else could have gotten for the same crime. Then maybe some of these bad officers would think twice before committing a crime...do double the time.

I think this guy has a little too much testosterone flowing, like so many officers that I’ve been around.

Well if you had done your homework correctly, you would have known that his "weapon" in 2000 was a can of pepper spray and two rear naked-chokes because his wife was being attacked on the road by 3 drunk males throwing beer cans at her vehicle and trying to run her off the road. Guns were drawn as a last resort, not only because of a failure to comply, but because they were being violently attacked and in fear of their lives. The attackers played on the fact that he was out of his jurisdiction when he pulled them over. Yes, he was in his Tulsa cruiser. No, he was not in Tulsa... they were on their way home in the suburbs. What would you have done, cop or not? Get your facts straight. And he is currently under investigation, yes, and has been indicted but a ruling has not been made so please, save it until it is finished. Buddy and his wife are dear friends of mine and to have him misrepresented by some keyboard warrior cannot go unnoticed. He's saved more lives as a Sniper in the Military and for Tulsa S.W.A.T. than you can ever understand. So put the Red Bull and hot pockets down, and go do some research before you open your mouth. Have a nice day.

Apparently the Chief thinks he’s guilty or he wouldn’t have suspended him indefinitely, without pay. Must be some reason for Chief to react in this way.

In the 2000 incident if he was not on duty and out of his jurisdiction , then he should have reacted like any other citizen and called in another officer, that’s what I would have done. Just because he has saved lives in the past that doesn’t give him a right to do as he pleases...there are rules to follow, and if he’s going to break these rules then he is no better than any other criminal on the street.

Rules aside, the Chief and Buddy don't get along, long before this incident. But, understandably, there's no way for the public to know that. I'm here to tell you, they don't.

Secondly, he was suspended indefinitely during the 2000 incident also... but he was re-instated, hmmm.

Finally, have you ever heard the concept of higher law? I don't know how you operate, other than what I've read... I mean sure, it's easy to sit at a keyboard with a paper plate full of microwaveable pizza crumbs and say you would "just call another officer." You should be a cop, or say... a realist? If my, or any other average person's, spouse's life is being threatened, I'm going to do something about it whether I'm a janitor or an off-duty police officer. When it's life or death, it's life everytime. And for the record, he did contact the local authorities. Time is of the essence in life or death situations. That's how it is in the dangerous world we live in, F.Y.I..

Side note: You are 100% correct in saying that by him saving lives he does not have the right to break the "rules", as you so eloquently put it. But can we not grant him the courtesy of slanderous remarks and name-calling? "Jackass...thug..." Accusations of steroid use? I don't know what you have done in the past that would make you have such a hatred for police officers but it is clear you have too much time and too small a brain to produce an educated summary on any accounts of anyone's wrong doing, police officer or not. I sincerely hope you can sing or dance because journalism certainly is not one of your strong points. I suppose I should have considered your screen name before wasting my time. Again, have a wonderful day "MsPsycho".

If you can't get along with your chief, how can someone get along with the public? Sounds like to me the chief did the right thing the first time and again this time. There is no place for officers who act this way.

Just because he got pissed off at someone for throwing something out of their car, gives him no right to re-act in the way he did. He was wrong then...just like the Chief said, and he's wrong this time and no better than any other criminal.

I call all bad cops, jackasses. They were jackasses before they were cops and will always be jackasses. Its just too bad he wasn't seen for the type of person he was before coming a cop. Maybe then he wouldn’t have stolen all those weapons, and beat up citizens just because he was trying to act like it was his world alone. Follow MY rules, or I will make you follow the rules...kind of attitude.

Why I hate BAD cops? Because I have been beat up, tortured, called names, and basically treated like I'm not human by bad law enforcement officers.

And well, I'm not a journalist...never claimed to be. I just enjoy writing and stating my own opinion.
